Down Syndrome Dublin .are proud to launch www.handsthattalk.ie it's a website conceived and  developed by Dpwn Syndrome Dublin to teach everyone to sign. The signs are perfomed by an animated character called Tizzie. We demonstrated hands that talk to teachers, speech and language therapists and parents at the educate conference this year and the feedback was extremely positive. The  signs are ISL and baby ISL:so that people can communicate with as many people as possible. We've included a feedback and voting system in the website so that people can tell us what features would be most useful for us to develop next, and the more support each idea has it more likely it is to get prioritised.

We would like to wish the best of luck to Greg Turley, Mark Turley, Niall Turley and Fergus Murphy, who are starting their Paris 2 Nice cycle Saturday 28th September They leave Paris in the  morning of 28th September and arrive in Nice on October 3rd. It's a 800km bike ride - and its tough. The four of them have raised a phenomenal amount of money for Down Syndrome Dublin. Thank you so much and good luck over the next few days

Finian McGrath in a letter to the Times today, launches his Down Syndrome Equal Access Bill. Read the full text of the letter here

Tuesday - 20th July - Ruairi Quinn has refused to reclassify Down Syndrome as a low incidence disability for the allocation of resource hours, and referred back to the NCSE report.  So basically, we'll have to wait until the working group has finished its deliberations and a plan is put in place and executed. Can our children afford to wait that long - no sorry Minister!, we're moving to plan B.

Protest against cuts in SNA provision

A huge thank you to everyone who turned out for the protest at the Dail. Down Syndrome Ireland and Dublin were well represented, It's continued pressure that's going to win this fight to reverse cutbacks in SNA provision for all children who need them in this Country, so we'll be mounting more protests as budget time approaches. If you've got any ideas to make the next protest even more effective please contact us
